Catalogue 3353

Following five years of programming, the publication aims to dissect what constitutes an art space and its language. It offers a reflection on the archive book as much as on the art space itself and the community that emerges from it. The catalogue presents the programme of the space through a typology that reveals its possible ramifications. All the exhibited works appear in the form of a product catalogue, adopting a non-hierarchical, transmissible and horizontal approach.

The book is divided into two parts by a series of collages by graphic designer and co-editor Jean-Marie Fahy. The second part of the book consists of two commissioned texts by Roxane Bovet and Felix Toro, which question the conditions of existence of artistic practices and open up paths for thinking beyond the established framework.

Repenser le statut des travailleur·se·x·s culturel·le·x·s à Genève

This small publication was released as part of the opening of Espace 3353 in Geneva, in September 2018.

Having taken a position on the remuneration of artistic work, it was important that the opening of the space include a trace of this stance, and that the issue be continuously addressed and made accessible to the public of the space. This text therefore responds to a need to make public a line of thought that usually remains within the private sphere in contemporary art.

The publication is structured as a starting point for reflections and discussions among different members of the visual arts scene in Geneva. By integrating administrative processes into curatorial practice, the publication also makes it possible to incorporate the issue of remuneration into the public activity of the space.
